Here’s the first ultrasound photo of our little baby! S/he is a good size, good heartbeat rate, doing well. Mom on the other hand… turns out I have a tiny blood clot below the baby, which increases my chance of miscarriage. So, the doctor has me on a week’s bed rest. Never good news all on its own, eh?
The doctor says the bed rest should allow it to heal and all will be okay. After the bed rest, I’m told I still need to take it way easier, as the doctor said the clot is likely a result of me doing too much. I thought I had been taking it easy, but I did go on a few long walks, which I won’t do again. Tough when you’re getting no exercise and are told walking is okay for pregnancy. I’ve also been dealing with constipation, which the doctor warned me not to let happen, so he told me to take Metamucil, which I’ve started on.
Someone told me blood clots are common in women who have had IVFs, so I guess I need to be more careful than the average pregnant women. So, I’ll do nothing to risk this little girl/guy, it’s total R&R from now on. I’m a total protective mama bear already :)
